Senior Automation Engineer – Company Overview

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Automation Engineer are going to be a part of a team developing automation solutions for the drilling industry. This position will take a leadership role on deployment projects. Interface with customers in various stages of the project. Be a mentor to junior engineers and supply technical consulting, develop electrical and controls system design solutions supported engineering principles, and supply level 3 technical support to external and internal customers.

Will be liable for project success as a project leader or as a part of a project team, ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal as well as requirements are observed for all work completed, interpret client requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering problems, and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budget.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as Controls and Automation engineer with role of designing and developing software for drilling applications supported given requirements and specification. Have an honest understanding of basic machine controls which include induction control using AC Drives, MCCs, hydraulic/pneumatics and valve controls.

Control software development also will include developing machine control algorithms for PLC based systems.
Duties will include generation of Design documentation, PLC Code, HMI applications, Bill of Materials, Network Architectures, One delineation , Operations manuals.

Responsible of sustaining current rig applications and debugging / fixing issues that are reported within the field. This might be by answering calls and dealing as well as with technicians, remotely connecting to rig system and troubleshoot, or by traveling to the rig site and dealing with rig personnel to repair the difficulty .
Project lead on commissioning and rig deployments.
Mentor junior engineers.
Technical consultant to business stake holders, assist in gathering requirements from customers.
Maintain product safety altogether designs.
Perform design prototyping, including field implementing as well as testing.
Perform basic troubleshooting of communication networks as well as wiring issues with PLCs and other NW components.
Support management on property issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering as well as from recognized University

10 to fifteen years of experience in an engineering environment. As well as developing controls and automation software in Rockwell or Siemens systems

Minimum 5 years in drilling equipment automation
